Meekhof Welcomes Constituent to Memorial Day Service

LANSING—Senate Majority Leader Arlan Meekhof, R-West Olive, welcomed local constituent Ms. Charlotte Nelis to the State of Michigan Senate Memorial Day service yesterday.

Ms. Nelis’ son, Staff Sgt. Andrew Seif, was one of seven marines and four soldiers killed in a helicopter crash while conducting a night training mission in Florida recently.

“It was a blessing to have Ms. Nelis join me for the Memorial Day service,” said Meekhof. “It is important we never forget the sacrifices made by Ms. Nelis, Sgt. Seif and the rest of their family and friends.”

The service was held on the Senate floor and hosted by the honorable Senator Patrick Colbeck.
“I commend Senator Colbeck for his hard work and dedication to the cause,” said Meekhof. “The ceremony was a beautiful tribute to the men and women who have sacrificed to keep us safe.”
