How gambling can be used as a tool for political purposes
People usually think gambling is an act of pure chance. However, there are instances where gambling can be used for political purposes.
The Ancient Romans would use gambling as a way to promote their beliefs and influence the masses. These beliefs ranged from personal opinions to religious opinions. This did not include just eating and drinking but also clothed themselves with the Roman symbol of a laurel wreath. It was also used in wars, either by the victors or by both sides in peace treaties.
Gambling was done by the ancient Jews as well. However, it was not done for political purposes but rather for social purposes such as family events and celebrations where there is no monetary gain involved so that people can be more festive such as the Passover.
